Abbot Metodije Visits Bishop Irinej of Backa

On Sunday 5th. November 2023. in the Cathedral Church of Novi Sad, Archimandrite Metodije, Abbot of Hilandar Monastery, presided over the Divine Liturgy, and served alongside with Brotherhood of the Cathedral and hierodeacon Hariton, monk of Hilandar monastery. The Holy Liturgy was prayerfully attended by His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa. The Abbot of Hilandar was accompanied by monks Teodosije, Simon and Toma.

After the Holy Liturgy, the gathered and faithful people were addressed by Bishop Irinej of Backa, who was grateful to Archimandrite Metodije for his service and reminded of the spiritual, historical, liturgical ties between Hilandar and Mount Athos with the Diocese of Backa.

Archimandrite Metodije presented Bishop Irinej with an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Three Hands  and a plaque commemorating the 825 years of Hilandar, which Hilandar Monastery awards to benefactors who contributed to the monastery’s restoration after the fire that occurred in 2004.
