Hilandar Monastery Abbot Methodius served the Holy Liturgy on the island of Vido
The Very Reverend Archimandrite Methodius visited the island of Corfu as part of the “Serbian Days on Corfu” event organized by the Orthodox Sports Association “Holy Serbia” and the Corfu Greek-Serbian Friendship Society.
In the prayerful presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy on the island of Vido, right next to the “Blue Tomb,” was presided over by the representative of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, His Grace Bishop Pajsije of Dioclea, Vicar of His Eminence Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral.
The Very Reverend Archimandrite Methodius, Abbot of Hilandar Monastery, served alongside several priests and deacons from Serbia, Montenegro, and Greece.
This was the second Holy Hierarchical Liturgy at the place of great Serbian suffering. With Metropolitan Nektarios’ blessing and the support of the Hilandar Monastery, the Liturgy will be served every year in the future.
During the event, guests from Serbia had the opportunity to visit significant cultural and historical sites and memorials dedicated to the Iron Regiment and the Drina Division, as well as the resting place of members of the entire Military Orchestra of the Moravian Division.
As part of the overall event, a voluntary blood donation campaign was organized for the residents of Corfu, reaffirming the Serbs’ dedication to the noble tradition of their glorious ancestors. The organizers also arranged a diverse cultural and artistic event, which many Corfu residents enjoyed.
On the event’s final day, the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy was served in the Church of Saint Spyridon on the island of Corfu, concluding this year’s “Serbian Days on Corfu.”
