Children’s Camp ‘Teofilos’ at Hilandar Village
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the first children’s summer camp, ‘Teofilos’, commenced at Hilandar Village in Sijarinska Banja. The event was held under the patronage of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar and organized by the charitable-educational association of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar, ‘Teofil 1198,’ from Čačak, and by the Hilandar Monastery’s humanitarian organization, ‘Teofilos’, based in Thessaloniki.
The first group of participants included forty-five children of Serbian descent living in Greece—members of the ‘Teofilos’ Association and students of the Serbian supplementary school’ Saint Sava’ in Thessaloniki. They were joined by children from the Association’ Peace, Unity, and Stability’ from North Macedonia.
The camp represents one of the key activities of the Hilandar Monastery’s work with children and youth, as part of the broader project ‘The Hilandar Lighthouse’. It aims to help children from the diaspora get more closely acquainted with their roots through various cultural, spiritual, touristic, and athletic programs.
During the camp, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Methodius, the abbot of the Hilandar Monastery, visited Hilandar Village accompanied by Hilandar monks Teodosije and Nikolaj. On this occasion, Abbot Metodije greeted and blessed all the camp participants, who were delighted by the monks’ visit.
We express sincere gratitude to the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia for supporting this project.
