A prayer for the beginning of construction of the new olive press in Hilandar Monastery
Abbot Metodije, accompanied by Hierodeacon Hariton, conducted a prayer service on Wednesday, August 14th, to bless the successful start of construction on the new monastery olive press.
The facility is being established on the monastery estate, a portion of the land dedicated to agriculture, located approximately two kilometers north of Hilandar. The improved conditions and modern equipment for producing extra virgin, cold-pressed olive oil will significantly contribute to the monastery’s sustenance.
In addition to the wine made from grapes in the monastery vineyard, the increasing number of beehives providing high-quality honey, olives and olive oil are among the main products of Hilandar. When the monastic rule permits, the brethren and numerous pilgrims exclusively enjoy the monastery’s wine and oil at the Hilandar table.
